Budget debate in Senate: opposition flays government for lack of roadmap to take country forward.

The upper house of the parliament on Tuesday started debate on a motion moved by Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh to make recommendations to the lower house on the Finance Bill 2010-11. Initiating debate, leader of opposition in Senate, Wasim Sajjad said that new budget contains no sensible vision for vital sectors of education, health and water.

"The country has been badly affected due to power crisis and instead of providing loans to Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) to overcome its financial woes, the government is giving preference to Rental Power Plants (RPPs)," he added.
