Arthouse films will be available directly in European homes in a deal, described as a game-changer for distribution, announced at Cannes on Tuesday.
Sony Computer Entertainment Europe has inked with online film library site the Auteurs--rebranded Mubi--to incorporate its services onto the PlayStation 3 game console.
Distrib deal allows PS3 users to download Mubi for free and watch streaming films with ads for free or ad-free via pay-per-view or a monthly subscription, said SCEE prexy-CEO Andrew House. Mubi will roll out this fall in Western Europe.
