The Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Works and Housing, Hon. David Tetteh Assumeng, has said that a new levy imposed on electricity and natural gas transmission services by Parliament will have minimal impact and will not result in any serious increment in utility tariffs.

According to him, the levy will enable the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) to purchase equipment for monitoring the activities of utility companies. "It is intended to improve efficiency in its operations by setting up offices in all the regions and districts nationwide," he added.
