Tokyo, May 31 Kyodo - Japanese Foreign Minister Katsuya Okada urged his Iranian counterpart Manuchehr Mottaki on Monday in Tokyo that Tehran halt its controversial uranium enrichment programme, over which the United States has presented a draft resolution to the UN Security Council to impose fresh sanctions on the country.
Okada told reporters after his meeting with Mottaki that he insisted Tehran should "make a crucial political decision now for the sake of the Iranian people" to avert additional sanctions.
