Chalermpol closes in on overall lead.

CHALERMPOL Polamai moved to within striking distance of the SuperSports 600cc championship lead after winning Race One in Round Two of the Petronas FIM Asia Road Racing Championships (ARRC) in Autopolis, Japan yesterday.

It was Petronas Yamaha Thailand rider Chalermpol's second victory of the season, with teammate and compatriot Decha Kraisart completing a one-two finish for the team, while championship leader Glenn Allerton of Australia came third.

Chalermpol, who overtook pole man Decha in the seventh of the 12-lap race, moved to within two points of Allerton's championship lead, heating up the build-up towards Race Two today.
