Statesman News ServiceNEW DELHI, 23 MAY: The Election Commission has asked the Press Council of India to define the much talked about phenomenon of paid news and prepare appropriate guidelines for identification of such items. The move of the poll panel came after it had received several complaints on the issue of payment to some media houses for coverage and publication of news during last years Lok Sabha elections. This has been revealed in response to an RTI query demanding details of complaints received by the Election Commission and the action taken on them.
