New Zealand communications and information technology minister Steven Joyce said that Budget 2010 provides a further NZD 248 million for the government's flagship broadband initiatives, which will help New Zealand grow faster and be more competitive. The government has committed up to NZD 1.5 billion to its ultra-fast broadband initiative, which will see fibre rolled out to businesses, schools, hospitals and 75 percent of New Zealanders over the next ten years.
