A year ago, few people had heard of Owl City, the one-man synth band masterminded by 23-year-old Adam Young. But when his first major album, Ocean Eyes, went online in July 2009, iTunes chose "Fireflies" as its single of the week--and the term overnight sensation was redefined. The song has been played some 30 million times at Young's MySpace page. What many don't know is that he takes his faith as seriously as his music. Painfully shy, Young, now working on his second album, insists on e-mail interviews; CT senior associate editor Mark Moring obliged.

How can such a shy guy put on such a dynamic show in concert?
