LONDON, May 11 (Xinhua) - The political career of British Prime Minister Gordon Brown seems to have entered its final stage as he stood in Downing Street on Monday and said that he would step down from office.

Brown has been at or near the top of British politics for the past 13 years and it is difficult to see what role he could have now. That's after he said he will resign in the wake of his substantial general election defeat on Thursday.

The prime minister's career appears to have ended in failure. …
