The President's Council of Advisors on Science & Technology (PCAST) of the USA published recently a report outlining several proposed changes to the National Nanotechnology Initiative (NNI), the government's inter-agency programme that coordinates nanotechnology R&D financing. PCAST's recommendations include allocating more funds for nanomanufacturing and product commercialization; increasing the number of employees with specialization in nanofabrication; and bolstering commitments to environmental, health and safety (EHS) research.
