Colin Nish bagged a hat-trick for Hibs as they raced into a 4-1 lead and a 6-2 advantage, with Anthony Stokes grabbing a double and Derek Riordan netting.
That was the cue for some home fans to leave at that point. They missed possibly the most incredible finish in Scottish football.
Well had already netted through Giles Coke and John Sutto n before Coke grabbed another to start the fightback.
Tom Hateley and Sutton netted in quick succession to set up a barnstorming finish.
