Section: General News - UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon urged Iran to resume six-party talks on its controversial nuclear program, the UN News Centre said in a statement on Tuesday.

The United States and other Western countries suspect Iran of developing nuclear weapons under the guise of a civilian nuclear energy program and are seeking new sanctions following Iran's move to enrich uranium to 20%.

Ban met with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on a request from the Iranian leader after the first day of the nuclear non-proliferation treaty (NPT) review conference to continue until May 28.
