A TEENAGER who drowned in the River Trent had been swimming as part of a send-off for a friend who was joining the Army.
Daniel Hulland, 19, and two friends had planned the swim as a memorable event for them to look back on in years to come.
His mum Charlene said: "He went out with two of his very good friends. One of them was going away to the Army so they decided they wanted to do something memorable to send him off and decided they would go for a swim in the Trent.
"They wanted to go somewhere they would not usually go."
