IAN BOGIE will lead Gateshead into the professional era after he was offered, and accepted, a twoyear deal to become the club's first full-time manager for half a century.

The former Newcastle, Preston and Port Vale midfielder had worked without a contract over the last three years, piloting the Tynesiders to back-to-back promotions.

The 42-year-old, however, claimed keeping Gateshead in the Blue Square Premier with a final-day win over AFC Wimbledon was his greatest managerial achievement so far. Bogie will now get the chance to work with a full-time squad of around 21 players, with 14 or 15 …
