JAMIE Miller denied Gary Brown his fifth East Riding of Yorkshire Golf Alliance title with a one-shot victory at Hull Golf Club.

He shot a two-round total of 141, with Brown in second on 142.

Miller was naturally elated with his win, particularly as it had been seven years since an amateur last won the title.

He said: "Given the awful winter and spring, the course was in really good order and the green staff deserve huge credit for their efforts. Having said that, the greens are really tricky to read and you cannot afford to relax.
