The new expressway toll system that the government plans to introduce in June is likely to be completely reexamined, partly due to a confrontation between Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism Minister Seiji Maehara and Democratic Party of Japan Secretary General Ichiro Ozawa.

Ozawa has spoken out against the plan, which Maehara compiled, weakening Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama's pledge that all his administration's policy decisions would be controlled by his Cabinet.
