County tells cafe to stop lobbying.

Hundreds of people have signed paper and online petitions asking the Manatee County Commission to keep the current management of the Cafe on the Beach.

But Rob Cuthbert, the county purchasing director, wants the lobbying to stop.

Cuthbert insists such activities violate anti-lobbying provisions in county codes because his office is currently negotiating with another company to operate the cafe and its adjoining souvenir shop.

When the purchasing department presents a proposed contract to the County Commission, the public may then speak for or against it, Cuthbert wrote in a letter to the cafe's current management dated …
