An all-Nepali team of 31 Sherpas, inclusive of 11 porters and 20 mountaineers, is heading for Mount Everest with the aim to clear more than 2,000 kg of garbage from the "death zone" of Mt Everest, a press released stated.

As Mt Everest is recognized as the world's tallest peak and a symbol of Nepali pride it needs to be cleaned up, the members of the expedition team said.

The expedition also aims to bring back the oxygen bottles, old rope, flags, dead bodies and other waste materials scattered along the climbing trails and at the summit itself.
