MAEBASHI--A small company in Gunma Prefecture is using ultrasonic waves to solve one of the oldest problems in manufacturing--how to get rid of burrs.

Burrs are small, unwanted bits of material that remain attached to a workpiece during the manufacture of plastic and other parts. They must all be removed before the parts can be used.
