Section: General News - The Commission on Elections today deferred the signing of the contract for the supply of more than 200,000 pieces of padlocks that will be used to secure the ballot boxes for the May 10, 2010 national and local elections.
Comelec Commissioner Armando Velasco said the Commission en banc decided to delay the awarding of the contract to Neutron Construction and Marketing Corp. after another bidder, Atlanta Industries Corp., questioned the bidding that took place two weeks ago.
The en banc decided to defer it until the issues raised by Atlanta is resolved, the Comelec official said.
