COTABATO CITYA KEY MEMBER OF A MAGUINdanao political clan seeking justice for his relatives who were killed in the Nov. 23, 2009 massacre in a town there protested what he said were signs that the government was preparing to set free one of the main suspects in the mass murder.

Esmael Mangudadatu, vice mayor of Buluan town and candidate for Maguindanao governor, said he was dismayed by the statement attributed to acting Justice Secretary Alberto Agra that Zaldy Ampatuan, governor of the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (ARMM), may be freed soon for lack of probable cause in both rebellion and multiple murder cases in connection with the massacre.
