Despite the title's claim, the furniture pictured here was created predominantly from 1950 to 2009. Texts are by German design and furniture curators and appear in English, French, and German. Objects are presented in reverse chronological order, featuring one or more iconic pieces for each year back to the 1920s. Especially satisfying are the crisp photo reproductions, generally one per page, and the book's overall attractive design. Chairs are disproportionately represented.
