Drama ensued at Parliament yesterday when Kampala City Council (KCC) officials tried to defend the failure of the town clerk, Ruth Kijjambu, to appear before the MPs but ended up contradicting themselves.
The officials had been invited to the local government accounts committee chaired by Abdu Katuntu (FDC).
Before the meeting, the MPs demanded to know why Kijjambu was not among the officials. "This is the second time KCC is appearing before the committee without the accounting officer. Where is the town clerk?" Katuntu asked.
