Section: General News - The drought situation is worsening in parts of the country and continues to affect agricultural activities. Water trucks have been sent out to alleviate water shortages while discouraging farmers to grow water-consuming crops.

The water level at Nam Un dam in the Northeastern province of Sakonnakhon is at a critical level of 178 million cubic meters of water, or 27 percent of its capacity remaining.

Authorities have announced 14 districts in the province disaster zones, due to severe drought. They are discouraging local farmers from taking part in the second off-season cultivation to avoid a more serious impact of the drought.
