South African President Jacob Zuma has lauded Uganda for hosting the African National Congress (ANC) during apartheid when other countries feared harbouring them.

Addressing the parliament of Uganda on his first visit as head of state yesterday, Zuma said the support to ANC cemented the relationship between the two countries.

"The people of South Africa will never forget what Ugandans did for them during their hour of need. This deepened our relationship so much so that we naturally regard Uganda as our second home," he said to applause.
