Thailand: Transport Ministry to speed up purple-line rail project.

Section: Business News - The Transport Ministry is looking to speed up construction of the Purple Line's Bang Sue-Ratburana section. An additional station near the new Parliament building in Kiak Kai is also being considered.

Transport Ministry Permanent Secretary Supoj Saplom, who also serves as the chairman of the Mass Rapid Transit Authority or MRTA, said the MRTA will accelerate the construction of the Bang Sue-Ratburana section of the Purple Line electric rail route, in order to keep pace with that of the new Parliament building in Kiak Kai area.

The 67-billion baht rail construction is expected to be completed just after the opening of the new parliament.
