Scomi: India to call for monorail tenders soon.

THE Indian government has officially singled out monorail as a component for its urban transport solutions to ease congestion in its crowded cities.

This will pave way for more monorail projects in the country's major cities, Scomi International Pte Ltd president Kanesan Vellupillai said.

Cities like Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune would soon call for new tenders as a result of the government's recognition, he said.

They are either for new projects or extension of existing developments, Kanesan told Business Times yesterday.
