According to the latest data from the Indonesian Automotive Industry Association (Gaikindo), total car sales in January rose by 69 percent from 31,642 in the same month in 2009 or by 20 percent from 48,414 in December last year.
Car sales in January this year also exceeded last year's highest monthly sale of 52,226, recorded in October.
