from THE JAKARTA POST -- MONDAY, MARCH 1, 2010 -- PAGE 5 The Communications and Information Technology Ministry is drafting a ministerial regulation on multimedia content, which aroused controversy among the Internet community and advocates of freedom of expression and the press. The contentious articles include giving the ministry the authority to revoke service providers' licenses. Another article could put users and providers in trouble if the ministry believes they violated the regulation. Minister Tifatul Sembiring said last week at a hearing at the House of Representatives that he would try to calm nerves before issuing the regulation.
