SCRATCH player Francis Ngabo claimed the MTN February Monthly Mug at the par 72 Kitante golf course on Saturday as he halted in-form Brian Mwesigwa's four months unbeaten run in the one day event, reports Phillip Corry.

Ngabo carded 73 gross to claim his first mug in the new year and put him in contention of the race for the quarterly accolade come next competition.

Mwesigwa, who won the last four mugs on the trot, could not complete his record breaking run. He played with an injured ankle.

The former Kabale-based golfer will wrap up the quarterly mug in March if he wins his second event in the year and his fifth since last year.
