COMPANIES ACT Speak up now on rules The most drastic overhaul of company law in SA is nearing completion with Monday's deadline for comment on the regulations of the Companies Act of 2008. The regulations provide details on the implementation of a number of provisions of the act. Trade & industry minister Rob Davies says the regulations will reduce red tape by simplifying the process of setting up and running a company. A company can now be registered with a number, rather than a name, and there will be no need for documentation such as articles of association. Smaller companies will not be required to submit audited financial statements. Statements …
