Chinese New Year welcomes the tiger.

More than 300 people gathered at the Girl Scouts Gulfcoast Event and Conference Center to celebrate the Chinese New Year on Sunday.There were refreshments, a silent auction, a fashion show, and traditional performances to keep guests entertained throughout the day.

"Everything is related to Chinese culture," said Dr. Sean Kuang, president of the Gulfcoast Chinese-American Association.

A traditional lion dance opened the performance program. More dances, songs and kung fu followed. A violinist played the popular Chinese song, "Butterfly Lover," and Saint Stephen's Episcopal School students performed a Mandarin language …
