Co-ops want buffer fund to participate in power spot market.

ILOILO CITY - Electric cooperatives must have buffer funds in preparation for the implementation of Wholesale Electricity Spot Market (WESM) in the Visayas.

Dennis T. Ventilacion, Iloilo Electric Cooperative (Ileco-2) director, said the buffer fund is needed to allow cooperatives to pay for its transactions in the spot market and ensure stable supply.

"At least the buffer fund must be equivalent to a month's collection of the concerned cooperative so that they can pay their bills in the spot market," he said.
