KUALA LUMPUR: The 10 terror suspects detained under the Internal Security Act are believed to be followers of the puritanical Wahabbi Islam, similar to that practised by al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

According to a police source, the beliefs practised by the 10 suspects bordered on extremism as Osama has consistently dwelt on the need for a violent jihad to right what he believed, were injustices against Muslims perpetrated by the United States.

The source cited an example last year where a member of the Saudi Arabian royal family was injured by a suicide bomber.
