Kennebec Valley Community College in Maine has announced it is the recipient of a $50,000 grant that will aid in purchasing and erecting a 120-foot tall wind energy turbine on its campus. The grant was from the Maine Public Utilities Commission for KVCC's Wind Turbine Demonstration Project. The 10-kilowatt turbine will provide electrical power to reduce campus energy costs and serve as a working model for wind power education. It is scheduled to be up and running within a year.
