Beijing: During its current presidency of the European Union (EU), Spain has pledged to promote in Brussels the lifting of the embargo on arms sales to China, a restriction in force for more than 20 years. "We hope to intensify talks on lifting the embargo," explained the Spanish ambassador in Beijing, Carlos Blasco, in an interview published on Thursday [21 January] on the front page of the state-run English-language daily China Daily.
