How I agree with your recent correspondents about noisy TV! It isn't only audience participation that makes the actual content of the programme difficult to hear, but the very loud "background" music.

I like Silent Witness and Waking the Dead, but constantly have to have the remote to hand to turn down the volume, which in turn leads to turning it up again once the music is over.

Why is it necessary to have music on everything? I seem to remember …
