THE Government will raise doctors and nurses' salaries this year. Health minister Dr. Stephen Malinga has said the ministry acquired a World Bank loan of $600m (about sh1.152 trillion) to rehabilitate health centres and improve the welfare of doctors and nurses.

He was speaking at a farewell party for the outgoing interim board for Mulago Hospital on Friday.

Malinga noted that Uganda's medical workers were the least paid in the region.
