Highways Agency rules out extra work to create bridge over disused canal.

The senior project manager for the A46 dualling has ruled out extra work to create a bridge over a disused canal.

The former Grantham Canal currently has a culvert under Stragglethorpe Lane, at an area known as Joshua Mann's Bridge, just off the A46.

Members of Grantham Canal Society and Nottingham Kayak Club said that the A46 work at the Stragglethorpe Junction gave the perfect opportunity to put a bridge in place so the canal could be navigable again in future.

They wrote to Transport Secretary Lord Adonis to ask him to intervene.
