Two men were plucked from the sea today in a dramatic rescue involving a Belgian helicopter team after their 40ft yacht capsized off the Kent coast.

Coastguards responded to a mayday call from the yacht, named Justice, at 5am after the vessel began taking on water in rough seas and ran aground on Hook Sands between Herne Bay and Margate.

The Belgian helicopter was nearest at the time and rescued the owner of the boat and a crew member. The boat had capsized after a failed attempt to drag it to deeper water.
