Opposition to Ankole Kingdom Grows.

The restoration of the Ankole monarchy will bring back discrimination that existed among subjects, two former ministers in the kingdom and the central government have said.

Mr William Mukaira, the former Ankole Kingdom education minister and Mr Edward Rurangaranga, a former minister in the Obote II government, said the kingdom violated the rights of people from some clans, leaving scars in the minds of people.

"There are many things that were done that did not go well with us. We had to influence the then president (RIP) Obote, to abolish kingdoms. Ankole kingdom was not helpful to the local people at all," Mr Mukaira told Daily …
