Karachi Dawn News television in English at 1600 gmt on 28 December relays live regularly scheduled "Newseye" program. Dawn News anchor Saima Mohsin discusses and analyzes major developments of the day with government ministers, officials, opposition leaders, and prominent analysts.

Mohsin opens the program, saying "at least 27 people were killed and another 70 were injured when a suicide bomber joined a religious procession of Muharram (Islamic religious month) mourners and detonated his explosives on the main M A Jinnah Road in Karachi. Rescue workers struggled to get through the crowd to help the injured and control the fire that broke out after the bomb. Rioting broke out in pockets across the city as angry people burned shops and vehicles. Politicians and police officials are calling for calm and unity among the various communities in Karachi. Two people suspected of having links to the bombing have also been arrested."
