Inflation to hit 8-month high.

INFLATION will likely hit an eight-month high this month due to a pickup in demand for certain food items, but the average pace of price increases for the whole year will still fall within target, the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) said.

The central bank also said yesterday a benign inflation outlook will allow it to keep its interest rates steady, but added it has readied an exit strategy involving a phased withdrawal of liquidity boosters employed to shield the Philippines from the impact of the global slump.
