GUWAHATI/SILCHAR, 21 DEC: Jose Ramirez Barretto (in photo) struck twice as defending champions Mohun Bagan scored a convincing 4-1 win over Mohammedan Sporting Club in the opening match of the Federation Cup here today.

Barretto scored his first goal in the sixth minute before adding another in the first minute of the injury time (90+1). Japanese recruit Ryuji Sueoka (41st minute) and Nigerian Chidi Edeh (90+3) netted one each in a Group B match at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The lone goal for Mohammedan Sporting was scored by Jothi Kumar in the 33rd minute.

Mohun Bagan play their second group match against Chirag United on Wednesday. …
