Yangon [Rangoon], Dec. 21 Kyodo - Myanmar [Burma]'s Supreme Court opened a hearing Monday on an appeal by detained democracy icon Aung San Suu Kyi against her extended house arrest, her lawyer said.

The Supreme Court in Yangon heard arguments both from Suu Kyi's team and prosecution lawyers to decide on whether to allow Suu Kyi's appeal to review the lower court ruling last August extending her house arrest an additional 18 months, according to lawyer Kyi Win.
