Peso might weaken further.

The peso is expected to weaken further this week due to dollar strength.

Currency traders interviewed on Friday said the local currency could trade for P46.45 to P46.70 per dollar for the week.

The peso closed at P46.61 a dollar on Friday, 48 centavos weaker on a week-on-week basis.

The peso is seen at the P46.50 to P46.75 levels with dollar strength rising, Jonathan L. Ravelas, Banco de Oro Unibank Inc.'s chief market strategist, said.

He said the dollar is expected to strengthen as the US economy improves.

Another trader said the peso could trade within the P46.50 to P46.70 range.
