Dec. 17--Solon Springs got a bit of good news this week. Facing a $2.3 million construction project ordered by the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to bring the village's sanitary sewer system into compliance, the village got an early Christmas present from the federal government to help offset the expense. The four-county selection committee that determines how the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 154 Environmental Fund is divided among Ashland, Bayfield, Douglas and Iron counties decided Tuesday the $750,000 requested by the Solon Springs Sanitary District should be among the region's priorities.
