Benguet insists on rights over Kingking (Partnership over, says owner.

Benguet Corp. yesterday said it remains the operator of a gold and copper project in Southern Mindanao and that a financing deal with a Chinese firm was valid despite protests by the mine's owner.

The statement came a day after Nationwide Development Corp. (Nadecor) said it had stripped Benguet of the right to become operator of the Kingking mine, citing the latter's failure to bring the project to commercial operations.

But Benguet, in a disclosure, said the partnership deal with Nadecor for Kingking still holds and that it did not have to secure consent to obtain financing from MinMetals International (HK), Ltd. in relation …
