Japan will have to advance from a group comprising the Netherlands, Cameroon and Denmark to attain its goal of reaching the semifinals in South Africa next year following the draw for the 2010 soccer World Cup finals in Cape Town on Friday evening.

In a ceremony hosted by Academy Award-winning South African actress Charlize Theron, Japan, which will make its fourth consecutive World Cup appearance at the 32-team, June 11-July 11 event, was slotted into Group E and will open its campaign against Cameroon on June 14 at Mangaung-Bloemfontein.
