A former Charlotte County sheriff's deputy will not serve jail time for his alleged role in a securities fraud case.

Lance Scott Rawson and his co-defendant, Joseph Venezia, both recently accepted a pre-trial diversion, allowing the charges to be dismissed should they complete the program, according to the State Attorney's Office.

Rawson, 40, and Venezia, 73, were arrested in November 2008 after they reportedly sold more than $20,000 worth of eSuite Hotels stock to an acquaintance without approval.
